ICLEI WORLD CONGRESS 2009 – OCEANIA DELEGATION

AND NORTH AMERICAN STUDY TOUR, 14–24 June 2009

ICLEI Oceania sent a delegation to the 2009 ICLEI World Congress, held in Edmonton, Canada, on 14–18 June.

The delegation then set off on a five-day study tour of three North American cities leading the way in sustainable development, visiting Vancouver, Seattle and San Francisco from 19–24 June.

Delegates from Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria, Queensland and New South Wales joined staff from ICLEI Oceania to attend the ICLEI World Congress and North American Study Tour.

The World Congress is ICLEI's key international event, a gathering of our members, partners and experts. Held every three years, ICLEI’s World Congress is an opportunity to learn about the achievements of the most advanced cities and towns, and to build upon past successes to advance local action for sustainability.

The 2009 Congress was hosted by Edmonton, Canada, a dynamic and diverse city in the Canadian province of Alberta.
