Local Government Leadership Forums
For details on the objectives and target audience of the Forums see below.
The forums were developed to engage a cross-section of council participants, including: - the councillors and CEOs that set the strategic vision
- the executive managers who allocate resources and assign responsibilities
- the managers and officers that will ultimately implement adaptation actions
The forums served as an opportunity to bring these council representatives together to learn about how planning for the impacts of climate change can be driven at each level of council, and how decisions and actions affect other levels of council. ICLEI Oceania therefore encouraged a mix of representatives from each council/organisation (e.g. environment and asset/risk management staff, community engagement, economic development, health and planning programs).

Hobart City Council sponsored and hosted the Climate Change Adaptation – Local Government Leadership forum (Tasmania) in Hobart on 29 May 2009.
Over 50 Elected Members, CEOs, Senior Managers and Officers from 15 different Tasmanian councils and research organisations participated in the event.
