The FutureCityLeaders Initiative is a global network and capacity building program for young elected municipal leaders interested in urban sustainability.

Sharing best practices and working together across boarders leaders in the Initiative can collaborate and be inspired to achieve their goals together.

Through this Initiative ICLEI is connecting and empowering the next generation of local decision makers to realize tangible local action for global sustainability.

ICLEI’s FutureCityLeaders initiative aims to select young municipal leaders to participate in our global network. Selection criteria for participants include:

• hold an elected office in a local government
• be committed to make their city more sustainable
• be under 40 years of age
