The City of Edmonton celebrated Earth Hour on Saturday, March 28. Edmonton joined the global lights-out movement led by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to show support for action on climate change.
Councillor Don Iveson hosted an environmentally-friendly family event which featured a ceremonial turning off of the lights, where all non-essential lighting at City Hall and Century Place were turned off. Bullfrog Power injected carbon-free green power onto the Edmonton grid that matched the amount of electricity used by the event. Other activities included fire dancers, drummers and face painting.
