IBD 2009 in Leicester
Launch of LAB 10 year Strategy and Action Plan
In February 2009, Leicester launched their 10-year Local Action for Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan. Follow this link to read more about this event.
Since the launch of LAB in Leicester they have been promoting a Calender of Biodiversity Events where a biodiversity-themed event is planned for each month for 12 months from the launch, leading up to 2010, International Year for Biodiversity.
The first two of these events were a bird walk around one of Leicester's most popular wetland nature reserves. This was very well attended on a lovely sunny day.
The second event was a walk around a small woodland looking at the spring fauna and flora that occur there. Some traps were set so that participants could get a closer look at some of the small animals such as the wood mouse and bank voles that were caught. the attendees really enjoyed the walk and learned just how much there was going on in their local woods! We look forward to hear more from Leicester about their next events!
