Municipality of Walvis Bay launches its biodiversity report

- Walvis Bay Municipality staff including the Mayor of Walvis Bay, Ms Uilika Nambahu, at the official launch of the Municipality of Walvis Bay Biodiversity Report.
The Municipality of Walvis Bay recently launched its biodiversity report which was completed as one of the 5 steps of the Local Action for Biodiversity project. The report was unveiled during a special meeting of the Walvis Bay local steering committee on biodiversity. The Mayor of Walvis Bay, Uilika Nambahu, was also present at the launch, and commented that the report is a “milestone of strategic planning on the way to Vision 2010, so that the achievement of its targets as well as the Millennium Development Goals in Namibia works with, and not against, our natural resource base – especially biodiversity”.
Walvis Bay’s Manager of Solid Waste and Environmental Management, Mr David Uushona, expressed a sense of pride in being able to present the biodiversity report to various partners and said that it will also be distributed to other local authorities to encourage information sharing.
