Durban, Joondalup and Waitakere complete LBSAPs

The cities of Joondalup, Durban and Waitakere have obtained council approval for their Local Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (LBSAPs), which constitutes the 3rd and 4th steps in the LAB project which focus on planning for biodiversity conservation and management.

The 5th and final step in the LAB project process is the implementation of 5 on-the-ground biodiversity projects. The City of Joondalup is the first city to complete its biodiversity report, obtain council approval for their LBSAP and submit plans for its 5 initiatives as part of the LAB project milestones. It has identified the following 5 initiatives for implementation:

  • Coastal Foreshore Biodiversity Signage Project
  • Creating Native Gardens to Build Biodiversity Corridors
  • Yellagonga Biodiversity and Cultural Heritage Research Project
  • Weed Control Trial
  • Community Weed Education Project
