Opportunities to ‘step up’ with ICLEI Oceania in 2009–10

The new ICLEI Oceania Opportunities Brochure is now available to download.

This publication details the achievements we have made in collaboration with local government over the past year, plus opportunities for further action in 2009–10.

We thank our councils for their commitment to achieving sustainable change through local action, and encourage them to think about how ICLEI Oceania can assist them to ‘step up’ their responses to the ongoing challenges of a changing climate.

For more information about ICLEI programs available in the Oceania region, contact Martin Brennan, Deputy CEO, Ph: +61 (0)3 9639 8688.

NEWS FROM ICLEI INTERNATIONAL

Online City Climate Catalogue

The City Climate Catalogue website

The City of Copenhagen, working with ICLEI Europe, has launched a new website to record local government reduction goals to strengthen the argument for city involvement in post-Kyoto agreements.

The City Climate Catalogue is linked to the Local Government Climate Roadmap – a global process supported by leading local government associations worldwide that leads up to a post-2012 climate agreement. The Catalogue will be used to send a strong message to the United Nations, national governments and other important actors around the globe, showcasing the ambitious climate work of cities and local governments around the world.

All local governments are invited to register (for free) and upload their climate protection commitments. Given that CCP Australia is the largest CCP program in the world, ICLEI Oceania hope to see good representation of Australian cities on the City Climate Catalogue. Please pool your information to help us build a strong argument and profile your community’s climate actions.

Please check if your community is already listed. If yes and you wish to have more data added, send an email to ccp@iclei.org. If not, register and complete the profile.

Together we can send a strong message to the UN and other key actors.
