Join the Allies

Do you want to help thousands of citizens across the country take part in a meaningful discussion about climate change this Earth Day? How about supporting the efforts of hundreds of mayors and local government leaders who need to engage their communities to achieve emissions reductions goals?

We need your help with the 2009 National Conversation on Climate Action!

On behalf of ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability, the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies, Earth Day Network, and AmericaSpeaks, we invite you to join us as a National Conversation Ally for the 2009 National Conversation on Climate Action.Local governments – from large metropolitan areas to small towns -- will bring together thousands of citizens on Earth Day 2009 as part of the National Conversation to engage them in climate action.

With your help, the National Conversation will draw attention to the pioneering role of local governments in identifying solutions and exhibiting leadership on the climate action front. It’s an important opportunity for these local leaders to build broader, sustained citizen support for and involvement in their local climate protection strategies.

How can you get involved?

We expect that all of the official National Conversation Allies will contribute in unique ways, and we’d like to work quickly with you to identify what is most appropriate for your organization. These opportunities include:

  • Endorse. Include the National Conversation logo and link on your website and we’ll feature yours at www.climateconversation.org.*
  • Promote. Help engage your networks, whether it is local governments who can convene National Conversation events, nonprofit and corporate partners, and/or individuals who can attend or help organize events.
  • Educate. Share your research and other resources that local governments can access to raise awareness in their communities.
