On Earth Day 2009, Local Government Leaders Turned Climate Talk into Action
Earth Day 2009 arrived amidst headlines dominated by reports of the struggling economy, job losses, energy concerns and climate change. Indeed, it is a critical time for our communities, our country and the planet. And more than 70 communities across the country used the occasion to make their voices heard and chart a course of action. It was all part of the National Conversation on Climate Action.
The National Conversation was organized by ICLEI Local Governments for Sustainability, Earth Day Network, Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Science and America Speaks and was supported by the American Planning Association, National League of Cities, Sierra Club, the US Green Building Council and many other prominent organizations.
