Team and Projects - Latin American and Caribbean
Project: Fostering Sustainable Public Procurement in Brazil
Purpose: To foster sustainable public procurement (SPP) practices in the city of Sao Paulo and the states of Sao Paulo and Minas Gerais with the further aim of influencing other Brazilian states and the Federal Government to promote these practices throughout Brazil.
Partnership with the UK
Given the UK´s expertise and strategic priority focused on SPP, the project will also benefit from training and exchange of experience with British government departments involved in SPP (e.g. Leicester, London, Woking, DEFRA)
Part of the Cities for Climate Protection Campaign
The project is developed under ICLEI´s umbrella campaign Cities for Climate Protection (CCP) in South America, with strong linkages to ICLEI-ES campaign Procura+.
Partnerships in Brazil
Within the framework of a partnership with the Centre for Sustainability Studies of the Fundação Getúlio Vargas (GVces) in São Paulo, begun in 2004, the technical aspects of SPP will be developed specifically for São Paulo and Minas Gerais, to be replicated throughout the country.
