Mark Boyd, Director – Cities for Safe and Healthy Communities
Mark has over 15 years' experience in the public health sector across a range of roles including advocacy, research, integrated planning and health promotion practice.
He worked for four years in local government on local government health plans. This work included the development of the first local government strategy in Australia to reduce alcohol-related harms, which has been used as a model for similar work across the country.
His models in food security approaches by local government are also now used across Victoria and by various local governments throughout Australia.
Mark recently worked at VicHealth, the Victorian Health Promotion Foundation, where he contributed to an equity agenda including assisting with state policy actions to reduce inequality, and the development of equity-based planning resources for health promotion planning, which are now used nationally and internationally as key texts for equity-based health planning.
Jon Herd, Water Campaign State Manager – South Australia
Jon Herd returns to ICLEI Oceania to work on the Water Campaign™, having helped with the CCP Measures process in July and August.
He is about to complete his Postgraduate Certificate in Sustainability at Swinburne University.
Jon has worked in community and youth development with OzQuest and The Duke of Edinburgh's Award. He was project-managing volunteers to travel to Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Namibia, Nepal and Borneo and was lucky to take part in a number of these journeys.
Jon is a keen cyclist and helps with Human Powered Cycles to refurbish donated bikes for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.
Heather McLaren, CCP State Manager – South Australia.
Most recently, Heather was working at ICLEI Oceania in a temporary role to assist with the collection of data for the 2008 CCP Measures Report. She has also previously worked at Melbourne Museum on a Marine Biodiversity database.
Heather has a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Geography (Ecology) and has a strong interest in a range of environment issues.
Luke Reade, CCP State Manager – Queensland.
Luke’s academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Science (Environmental Management), a Bachelor of Science with Honours (Pollution and Health) and a Master of Science (Experimental Physics and Chemistry – Climate Change).
Luke has held various academic, government and non-government organisation positions in England, Scotland, Ireland and Australia, working in sustainable energy, transport, climate change and air pollution.
October saw the departures of Pia Triechel, CCP Australia Unit Manager, and Ian Innes-Wardell, Water Campaign Australia Manager.
