Research and Development
For over 15-years ICLEI has built considerable in-house research capacity drawing on inter-disciplinary teams of scientists across offices. We conduct research in a variety of areas of interest to local government and its agencies. Methodologies are put to test in local governments prior to the development of guidelines or manuals. This process is also used in the development of all our international campaigns and programs.

ICLEI-Canada research contracts have recently included work on: Biodiversity Engagement Strategy (Environment Canada), carrying capacity within municipal governments (Halton Region), Triple Bottom Line (TBL) Evaluation Tool (City of Hamilton), and the piloting of climate adaptation options within three Canadian municipalities (Natural Resources Canada).
