ICLEI Oceania Staff Update – AUGUST/SEPTEMBER 2008

NEW PEOPLE

Sarah Riddle, CCP Australia Program Support Manager

Sarah has recently returned from a volunteer role in China at the Shenyang Environmental Protection Bureau, where she established a number of environmental initiatives, including a sister-school program between sustainable schools in Australia and China.

Prior to this, Sarah worked as a consultant specialising in Project Management, assisting a broad array of public and private sector clients to strengthen their project management capability.

When Sarah is not outdoors, basking in the beauty of Australia's natural environment, she enjoys cooking up a storm with delicious, locally sourced produce.

Alex Sansom, CCP State Manager – NSW

Alex has previously worked in the banking and finance industry where she held various project roles, most recently as Change Manager. Prior to that she worked in tourism sales and marketing on the Great Barrier Reef.

Alex has been actively involved in a number of environmental groups, including the South East Forest Alliance (SEFA) Campaign Group.

In her spare time, Alex enjoys bushwalking, movies and cricket (spectating not playing!) and live music.

Elisabeth Sturrock, Office Coordinator

Lis has held various roles for the Western Australian state government environmental sector. She has also volunteered for Sustainable House Day and the Melbourne Writers Festival.

Lis has a Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Development and a Diploma in Natural Resource Management.

JP Williamson, Water Campaign State Manager – NSW, Rural Victoria, Queensland and Tasmania

JP has previously worked as Water and Energy Auditor for The University of Sydney, and as NSW State Convenor for the Australian Student Environment Network. Most recently he has supervised a project refurbishing old pushbikes for donation to charities.

JP has a Bachelor of Science majoring in biology and loves music, cycling and bushwalking.

CCP Measures Assistants

We also welcome four temporary staff members who are assisting with this year's Cities for Climate Protection measures reporting process: Hugh Butcher, Jon Herd, Heather McClaren and Claire Sonego.

STAFF DEPARTURES

We bid a fond farewell to three CCP state managers: Alex Scheikowski, Govind Maksay and Shane Melotte, and Patti Wenn, CCP Executive Manager.

We also say goodbye to Kris Swaffer, Water Campaign State Manager for South Australia, who has been with the organisation for two years.

Finally, a special mention goes to Jessica Kerstjens, Water Campaign Executive Manager. Jessica joined ICLEI Oceania nine years ago and has been an important team member, working across all of our programs.

We thank all our departing staff for their contributions to the ongoing success of our programs and wish them the very best for the future.
