Latest biodiversity reports and first LBSAP by LAB pioneers
Five of the 21 LAB pioneers have produced printed versions of their biodiversity reports: Durban, Waitakere and King County, and most recently Bonn and Nagoya. A further seven are well into the final production process. These important documents assess the state of biodiversity and its management within each administration, strengthening biodiversity management into the future. Some of these are available through the LAB website on the restricted city pages. The completed reports were exhibited at the COP 9 in Bonn in May and attracted a lot of interest.
Waitakere City Council have achieved a first in LAB by submitting an excellent working draft of their Local Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (LBSAP), with the other LAB participants due to submit drafts by November. The LBSAPs will contain the long-term strategy and the specific actions that each LAB participant local government will implement in order to protect and enhance its biodiversity.
