Accelerating Now! A green event case study. [PDF document, 290 KB]

The ICLEI Oceania events team makes every effort to ensure our events are as environmentally sustainable as possible.

In May 2007, ICLEI Oceania held its first major 'green' conference, Accelerating Now! Its achievements were recognised at the 2008 Melbourne Awards, with ICLEI Oceania winning the award for ‘Community Organisation – Contribution to Environment‘.

This was the second award for the conference, which also won a Meetings & Events Industry (MEA) Victoria state award. ICLEI Oceania and the conference organisers, The Meeting Planners, were recognised for successfully producing a carbon neutral event.

Preparation for the conference also involved an assessment of venues listed under the City of Melbourne's Savings in the City program.
