ICLEI Oceania Staff Update – JUNE/JULY 2008

NEW PEOPLE

Patrick Croix, Finance Manager

Patrick joins ICLEI Oceania as its new Finance Manager. With a Bachelor of Commerce, he is a Certified Practising Accountant and a member of the National Tax and Accountants' Association. He has worked in finance/accounting roles in various industries such as petroleum, legal, insurance, service, wholesale, manufacturing and R&D.

Patrick has always taken an interest in the environment, particularly the destruction of forests and global warming. He also volunteers with a charity group which raises funds for poor communities in third world countries.

Joany Grima, Events Manager, CCP-NZ

Joany, a former Melbournian, has joined the CCP-NZ office on a short-term basis to assist with the organisation of the forthcoming Recognition Event on 29 July in Rotorua. Joany is also covering for Administration Officer Christina Bellis while she is on leave.

An internationally experienced events manager, Joany’s portfolio includes the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, Commonwealth People's Forum, Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum and the New Zealand International Arts Festival.

Meg Ulman, CCP Website Editor (short-term contract)

Meg brings to the role over a decade of experience writing and editing content for both government and commercial organisations. She has a Bachelor of Arts in media studies and a Post Graduate Diploma in creative writing.

Meg moved to the Central Highlands region of Daylesford two and half years ago, where she is in the process of becoming self-sufficient in terms of power, water and food.

STAFF DEPARTURES

CCP-NZ farewelled Programme Coordinator Melanie Thornton, who moved to the Greater Wellington Regional Council to manage the implementation of the Wellington Regional Strategy as it faces the challenge of carbon neutrality. Melanie worked as a Programme Coordinator at CCP-NZ for 12 months.

We also say goodbye to Alexi Lynch, CCP Australia Program Manager, Peter Whittle, Finance Manager, and Sarah McCabe, Water Campaign™ State Manager for Western Australian.

Alexi has been with ICLEI Oceania for three and a half years and was CCP Manager for the past 18 months.

Peter has been with ICLEI Oceania for seven years and saw the organisation grow from a handful of staff to almost 50 people across numerous locations.

Sarah is heading off to travel and will work with the ICLEI European Secretariat.
