The focus of ICLEI’s Water Programme is on local government policies and practices suitable to manage water resources in a sustainable manner while meeting human needs for water supply and sanitation for current and future generations.
More sustainability can be achieved through integrated and cyclical approaches to water management. ICLEI works with its partners to scale up such approaches, thus reducing consumption and avoiding or significantly decreasing pollution to water resources.
In this way, ICLEI also strives to contribute to Millennium Development Goal 7, Ensure Environmental Sustainability
