Todd Campbell, MEM, MPP
Director of Public Policy, Clean Energy

Biography:
Todd Campbell is the Director of Public Policy for Clean Energy, North America’s Leader in Clean Transportation.  Prior to joining Clean Energy’s management team in November of 2005, Mr. Campbell served seven years as the Policy and Science Director for the Coalition for Clean Air - California’s leading not-for-profit dedicated to restoring clean, healthful air for all Californians.  In this capacity, Mr. Campbell ran the organization’s clean transportation and sustainable cities’ programs and played a key role in supporting federal, state and local efforts aimed at reducing public exposure to air toxics and other harmful air pollutants, including diesel exhaust particulate.  Campbell co-authored Failing the Grade: How Diesel School Buses Threaten Our Children’s Health – a document that inspired former Governor Davis’s “Lower Emission School Bus” program established in 2001.  Campbell was also a key environmental scientist and witness in NRDC v. Port of Los Angeles, et al., which set the groundwork for the Port’s creation of the “No Net Increase Plan” and the Port’s Clean Air Action Plan.

In addition to Mr. Campbell’s environmental and transportation expertise, he was elected to the Burbank City Council in 2003 and finished his first term of office as Mayor.  Mr. Campbell’s mayoral theme was “Renewing Burbank Today”: a year that focused on creating a sustainable Burbank by establishing goals of renewable power generation, zero waste, and increasing clean public transportation opportunities.  He also served as the City’s representative to the California League of California Cities, the City’s Environmental Oversight Committee, the Bob Hope Airport Authority Subcommittee, and represented the 42nd District Council seat for the Southern California Association of Government (SCAG).  Finally, Mr. Campbell served as the Chair of the Arroyo-Verdugo Sub-regional Committee for five cities and represented the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Agency on the Mobile San Fernando Valley Sector Board.

As Director of Public Policy at Clean Energy, Mr. Campbell actively engages key North American decision makers that operate public and private fleet vehicles to help them make the switch to clean natural gas: a fuel strategy that is affordable, American, and provides both significant environmental and greenhouse gas reductions.  Mr. Campbell attended Georgetown University to receive his Bachelor’s degree, Yale University for a Masters in Environmental Management and the University of Southern California for a Masters in Public Policy.  He also currently sits on the Board of Directors for the California-based Coalition for Clean Air.
