Dr. Thomas Baehr

Biography:
Thomas Baehr works for the Coordination Center for Climate Issues of the city-state of Hamburg, Germany. The center’s objective is to endorse and coordinate efforts to protect the climate, both within and outside the city administration. Among it’s tasks is to administer and advance the city‘s ambitious Climate Action Plan, which aims to reduce annual CO2 emissions by 2 million tonns until 2012.

At the beginning of this year Thomas Baehr was appointed liaison for international cooperation to promote joint efforts for climate protection with American partners. He operates out of Somerville, MA.

Thomas Baehr graduated from law school at the University of Bonn, and received his PhD (Dr. iur.) from the University of Osnabrueck. He clerked with the Administrative Court of Appeals in Hamburg, and was posted to the German Embassy in Accra, Ghana. Before joining the Free and Hanseatic City Thomas Baehr practiced as attorney at law (Rechtsanwalt) in Hamburg.

In Bonn Thomas Baehr served as member of the city council.
