Michael Allegretti

Biography:
Michael has ten years of experience working on political and public policy issues for business, government, and non-profit organizations. Prior to joining The °Climate Group, Michael worked as Director of Climate Initiatives for the Partnership for New York City, New York’s leading business organization, where he organized the C40 Large Cities Climate Summit. The summit marked an unprecedented gathering of mayors and business leaders from the world’s largest cities and corporations coming together to address global climate change.

Previously Michael worked on a variety of national, state and local political campaigns, including those of New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, New York State Senator Martin J. Golden and the 2004 Republican National Convention. Michael has also served as Public Policy Analyst for UBS and has provided consulting services to the World Economic Forum, the Tanenbaum Center for Interreligious Understanding, and the Presidential Forum on Renewable Energy.

Michael holds an MA from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, a BA from Boston College, and a Diplôme Internationale from Sciences-Po in Paris, France.

As Director of Government Relations, Michael is responsible for developing and implementing long-term strategies to engage city, state and federal leaders in The °Climate Group’s work and in taking action to address the climate crisis. He also serves as the US lead for The °Climate Group’s collaboration with former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, known as Breaking the Climate Deadlock, an international engagement strategy aimed at moving the world’s most influential nations closer to agreement on a post-2012 international emissions reduction framework.
