Biography:
Councilor David Cadman was elected to Vancouver City Council in 2002. David was born in Montreal and grew up in Toronto. He attended the University of the South in Tennessee and then moved on to Geneva where he achieved an MA in Interdisciplinary and International Development. He studied adult education at the Sorbonne in Paris and is fluent in French. David lives in the Grandview-Woodland area with his partner, Marisa. They have one son who attends SFU.

David spent several years in Tanzania and Kenya developing literacy programs. In 1976 David came back to Canada and settled in British Columbia. He worked for the Social Planning and Research Council in establishing a community development institute. In 1978 he began working for the GVRD and spent the better part of the next 20 years with them working in public consultation, communications and education. Prior to his election success, David was working as a private consultant.

David Cadman has been a social and environmental activist for over 30 years. He has served as the President of the Society Promoting Environmental Conservation (SPEC). He served at the national and international level of the United Nations Association, and was awarded the UN Peace medal and UN 50th Anniversary medal.
