The 9th Conference of Parties (COP 9) of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (UNCBD) is taking place from the 19th to 30th of May in Bonn, Germany.
Mayor’s Conference at COP-9
Local leaders will use the occasion of the Mayors Conference to have their voices heard in the international community through networking opportunities with key representatives from national governments and UN representatives. An intervention on behalf of local governments will be part of the High Level Segment of the COP. Mayors and other key decision-makers of leading local governments in urban biodiversity from around the globe have been invited to convene and exchange their experiences and initiatives for urban biodiversity.

Cities and Biodiversity Exhibition Booth:
This booth will include exhibits of several LAB panels/banners, depicting LAB’s participant cities and the project’s key deliverables. The Cities and Biodiversity Case Description Series, which highlights important actions cities are taking around biodiversity (including several LAB cities) will also be available there, as well as LAB Biodiversity Reports completed by several participating cities.
LAB cities and partners meeting at Bonn:
The aim of the meeting is to brief LAB participants in Bonn on the LAB Project aims and objectives and to provide an update on progress on some key LAB deliverables. This meeting, which will last less than one hour, will take place on 26 May. For further details, please email lab@iclei.org
CBD and LAB side event on 26 May
This Cities and Biodiversity side event, scheduled to take place at 13h00 on Monday 26 May 2008 is jointly hosted by LAB and the Convention for Biological Diversity Secretariat.
