Street Lighting Research Program, Toronto, Canada

4 December 2007

Toronto Hydro Energy Services Street Lighting (TH Energy Street Lighting) has launched the first phase of ALAMP (Adaptive Lighting Asset Management Program), a year-long research project aimed at reviewing new lighting technologies, testing them for use in Toronto, and choosing the most efficient and suitable lighting system based on established criteria.

Current Toronto street and highway lighting includes metal halide and high-pressure sodium lights. The program will test induction, fluorescent, LED, electronic ballast operated metal halide and high-pressure sodium lights for output, lamp life, lumen degradation over time and temperature effects. The ALAMP testing protocol will also provide Toronto Hydro crews experience in installing and maintaining the new technologies.

For more information, see TH Energy Services Street Lighting’s media release.
