CCP Victorian Local Economic Development (LED) ProjectBackgroundWith support from the Victorian Government, CCP Victoria developed and implemented the Victorian Local Economic Development (LED) Project in 2005-06 and then again in 2006-07. The following project partners supported the CCP Local Economic Development Project:
Project AimThe LED Project worked with selected Victorian CCP Plus councils to 'explore the tangible links between greenhouse gas reduction and local economic development'. The environmental and economic development units within councils work together through a mini-milestone framework that included a gap analysis, goal setting, action/project planning, implementation and review. Councils Linking Greenhouse and Economic DevelopmentCouncils that participated in the LED Project developed 'greenhouse-friendly' economic development projects and actions to achieve local economic, social and environmental benefits.
2006-07 LED ProjectFollowing an Expression of Interest process, six Victorian CCP Plus councils participated in the 2006-07 LED project. The first project workshop was held in December 2006, after which councils completed a gap analysis phase. A second workshop in February 2007, focused on exploring results of the gap analysis and the identified project opportunities. Please see 2006-07 Local Economic Development Project for more detail on the councils that participated and summary information about their projects. 2005-06 LED Pilot ProjectSix CCP Plus Victorian councils participated in the LED Pilot Project in 2005-06. Having completed a gap analysis, developed goals and a project plan, the pilot project councils then implemented their projects and undertook monitoring and review activities. |
