Saving Energy & Saving Money: The Economic Benefits of Local Climate Action

From 10-13 July 2007, local government leaders and practicioners from across the U.S.A. came together to take action and share strategies on realizing economic benefits through climate protection actions.
Participants to the workshop, co-hosted by ICLEI and the city of Fayeteville (Arkansas, U.S.A.), received practical training on the latest implementation and policy tools, exchanged new ideas and best practices with peer government leaders to advance climate protection and reliaze cost savings, job creation, and additional local benefits.
Featured topics included local economic development through climate protection, job creation, cost-effective transportation planning and green bulding construction, improving infrastructure to ensure climate resilience, and developing effective climate protection policies.
