CSD15

08-05-07
The fifteenth session of the Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD-15) took place from 30 April through 11 May 2007 at the United Nations.  ICLEI- Local Governments for Sustainability is the official Organizing Coordinator for the Local Authorities Major Group at CSD. At CSD-15, policy decisions were discussed that will enable the implementation of practical measures and options related to the four thematic areas of Energy for Sustainable Development, Industrial Development, Air Pollution/Atmosphere, and Climate Change. CSD-15 provided the opportunity for Local Authorities to engage in discussions with the other major groups and the 50 countries represented on the Commission for Sustainable Development, and to advocate for policy options that local authorities feel are critical to achieving sustainable development goals. Tanya Imola, ICLEI’s International Media Coordinator and Coordinator of the Local Authorities Major Group at CSD-15, reported daily from CSD-15 at the UN; that report is available at www.iclei.org/index.php. The Local Authorities Major Group made two official statements:  the opening statement delivered by Mr. Emilio D'Alessio, Deputy Mayor of Ancona, Italy, also a distinguished Member of ICLEI's Executive Committee; for a copy please click [http://www.iclei.org/index.php?id=6405].  The second official statement, the Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue statement, was given by Ms Imola; for a copy please click www.iclei.org/index.php.
