Waste: The Social Context ’08 – Call for Papers
30-05-07
In the year 2008, Edmonton (Canada) will host an international conference on the environmental, social and economic aspects of waste management.
The theme of the conference is ‘Urban Issues and Solutions’. While many conferences focus on the technical aspects of wastewater and solid waste management, this much-anticipated event is unique in addressing the critical environmental, social and economic implications.
The aim of the conference is to share ideas, stimulate discussion and accelerate the development of tools and knowledge needed to make sustainable waste management decisions. Municipal leaders and others will gain valuable insights into the social and environmental factors that must be considered in integrated decision-making.
The Edmonton Waste Management Centre of Excellence has announced a call for papers for the May 2008 conference. Themes may include but are not limited to:- Public perceptions and behaviour
- Social forces influencing waste streams
- Environmental policy
- Waste management in urban settings
- Stakeholder participation
- Developing countries and countries in transition
- Waste economics
Submissions are due by 15 October 2007. For details, please visit www.ewmce.com.
