ICLEI AS is international home for ICLEI Cities Biodiversity Center and LAB Project

Local Action for Biodiversity

The ICLEI Africa Secretariat in Cape Town, South Africa, houses the ICLEI Cities Biodiversity Centre, ICLEI’s global biodiversity ‘hub’. The Local Action for Biodiversity (LAB) Pioneer Project, which is a global urban biodiversity programme, is the Cities Biodiversity Centre’s flagship programme. Piloted in 2006, the initiative was developed and carried out with a select group of 21 local and regional authorities from around the world with the overarching aim of improving biodiversity management at the local level. The project forms the first step in the broader ICLEI Biodiversity Initiative and has since expanded and given rise to a number of ICLEI biodiversity initiatives and projects being run by the Cities Biodiversity Centre. Visit the Cities Biodiversity Centre website for more: www.iclei.org/biodiversity
