Milestone 2: Reduction Goals

A Milestone 2 reduction goal is a council-endorsed, public statement that states the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions to be achieved by a specified goal year. There are different types of reduction goals; however, they are typically expressed as a percentage figure of corporate and community emissions. Examples of typical reduction goals might be:

A 20% reduction in corporate emissions below 1998 levels by 2010.

A 25% reduction in community emissions below 1998 levels by 2010.
