Life Saving Energy - Bega Valley Shire Council: The renewable energy system at the Tathra Surf Club comprises a wind turbine and solar panels, and cost approximately $20,000 to install. Bega Valley Shire Council provided $10,000 towards the Tathra refit, and the club received a $4000 Australian Government rebate. The remainder was sourced from the local community through a fundraiser.
The money saved by the club annually through reduced energy bills will be re-invested back into the Surf Life Saving Club, providing significant community benefit.
