Greenhouse Savings

Local governments, in association with ICLEI Oceania's CCP Australia Program, have achieved the following reductions in CO2e emissions:

Between 1997/98 and 2007/08, Australian councils have reduced greenhouse gas emissions by over 18 million tonnes.

In 2009 there were 238 councils participating in the CCP Australia program, covering 84% of Australia’s population.
