- Energise Business - Ararat Rural City, Victoria: [PDF, 136KB] Energise Business is an energy efficiency project for rural SMEs that uses local government as a conduit to the local business community. By building a critical mass of closely located businesses, the project reduces the transaction costs associated with energy performance contracting, a service usually available only for large enterprises.
- Businesses Get Eco Smart - City of Joondalup, Western Australia: The City of Joondalup, in partnership with the Cities of Wanneroo and Stirling, has recently delivered the eco-business energy assessment program. The program assisted 75 small businesses improve their environmental efficiency by addressing water use, energy use, travel decisions and waste and recycling methods. The program provided 30 participating businesses with an average annual energy saving of $1195 and a 6.2 tonne reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
- Printer Rationalisation Project - Penrith City Council, New South Wales: Printers are often associated with an opportunity to reduce paper use and ensure that waste paper is appropriately recycled. However Penrith City Council has demonstrated that they also offer a simple way to reduce Council’s operational energy use, long-term operating costs and associated greenhouse gas emissions.
- Energy Efficient Office Equipment - City of Adelaide: [PDF, 48KB] The City of Adelaide (pop. 1.24 million) undertook to improve the efficiency of office equipment through enabling energy saving devices, primarily on computers. The case study provides details of the estimated energy savings to be made by the City in enabling the energy saving devices on its networked computers.
- Better Café & Restaurant Guide: One of the many resources that Waitakere City Council, NZ, has developed as part of its Cleaner Production campaign, this 13-page guide aims to educate food outlets on waste minimisation, recycling, energy efficiency, reducing water usage and other environmentally friendly actions.
