Water Works Energy Audit- Guntur
Sangamjagarlamudi is an old water supply system of Guntur city. The scheme was conceived in 1942 and implemented in 1953. Initially it was designed to supply 4 MGD of water, but was subsequently enhanced to 6 MGD in 1976.
Project Details
As the system is over 50 years old, the output is far from satisfactory and existing pipes have developed a great deal of severe internal surface deformities. GMC requested ICLEI to conduct an audit to find out the energy efficiency of the pumping system. With the experience of RSM Square Booster pumping Station, Kolkata audit, ICLEI along with Mr. Ramesh Juvekar started the audit in the last week of March 2003. The energy audit, including pressure, level and electrical readings using a special protocol, was conducted under ICLEI's CCP campaign.
The system measurements and data collected shall be analyzed and used to generate a report (by May 2003) highlighting the energy saving measures and technologies that can be integrated into water pumping systems to maximize energy efficiency.
