City of Buenos Aires adopt decree to combat climate change

The city of Buenos Aires will have a government team to combat climate change. Mauricio Macri created by Decree 137/09 an inter-Ministerial team to set up protection strategies to combat global warming together with the necessary policies to implement them.
Action plan to assess and address all responsibilities of the city
The action plan drawn up by the team will consider what is the degree of vulnerability of the city cope with the consequences of climate change, what may be the impacts might be, how households are affected, what are the potential adaptation measures and what cost involved.
Target specifically buildings and transport
Actions in this work programs will include a design guide on energy efficiency for buildings and hotels, and subsidies to support sustainable construction and launching of the first hybrid bus, within two months.
Another work area: Green roofs in Buenos Aires
The Agency for Environmental Protection of Buenos Aires organised this month a stakeholders meeting to analyse the possibility of implementing 'green roofs' in the City and the creation of policies to help promoting their use.
These meetings will be held periodically throughout the year. Green coverings is among the Sustainable Construction initiatives developed jointly by ICLEI and the municipal government.
