Stakeholder Consultation Meeting at Thane (India)

The Thane Municipal Corporation and ICLEI South Asia organised the "1st  Stakeholder Consultation Meeting" for a project on climate change (SPF-CCE/ICLEI SA) on 4th October'2008 at Thane Municipal Corporation.

A word from the city commissioner

The program was inaugurated by Sri Nandkumar Jantre, Commissioner, Thane  Municipal Corporation.  He appreciated the need for result based actions and  stressed on making Thane city a low carbon city by integrating energy efficiency & renewable energy measures into various municipal functions. He invited the suggestions from stakeholders representing different sectors on possible actionable program for Thane City under the ICLEI South Asia and British High Commission project.

The importance of stakeholder consultation

The ICLEI South Asia explained the importance of stakeholder consultation in developing policy instruments and actionable programs. A macro-analysis on  Thane City's energy consumption pattern and emission inventory for corporation and community activities was also made. This was followed by a brainstorming and deliberation on identifying various policy mechanisms and technologies available.
