Nordhausen County has reinforced its sustainable development process
January 02, 2008
Nordhausen County (Germany) has reinforced its sustainable development process through the project Managing Urban Europe-25 and the ecoBudget management system.
On the basis of the ecoBudget system, which manages natural resources according to principles of financial budgeting, Nordhausen County, and the city of Nordhausen, are now striving at a well-balanced sustainability budget, and have set the link between the different levels of administration.
The political commitment for prioritizing sustainable development in the area was publicly confirmed early in 2007 on the occasion of a local sustainability conference organized by the City and County of Nordhausen in May 2007. It was at this event that Lady Mayor Barbara Rinke and County Administrator Joachim Claus signed the Aalborg Commitments and thus committed their administrations to good governance and management for a more sustainable future.
