Studying sustainable development in Mannheim

July 18, 2007

University students are invited every year to take the GO GREEN course offered in Mannheim (Germany).

Offered through Purdue University in the U.S.A., this one week course emphasizes sustainable development in business and industry.  The course looks at design, engineering, manufacturing, technology and leadership processes implemented and maintained in business and industry for the purpose of being environmentally and socially responsible, and cost effective to natural resources. The objectives are to acquire the base knowledge of issues in sustainability as they relate to business and industry internationally and nationally, examine and evaluate case studies of sustainable practices, to identify trends and business practices in various sustainable organizations, and to utilize information from the course to apply in their own workplace upon their return.

Mannheim is one of 167 local governments in Europe that are currently Members of ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability.  For more information on ICLEI and its activities in Europe, please visit www.iclei.org/europe.
