Toronto takes pride in local environmental activists

Mayor Miller and Deputy Mayor Joe Pantalone announced the 2008 Green Toronto Award Winners, in April 25 2008.

"You're a credit to our community and an inspiration to all of us. I would like to thank you for your good work," the Mayor of Toronto, David Miller said.

Winners were announced for the following categories: Community Projects, Energy Conservation, Environmental Awareness, Green Design, Green Roof, Health, Leadership, Market Transformation, and Water Efficiency.

The award ceremony was organised with the support of corporate sponsors ranging from electricity company to local media.

Organising Green Awards is a highly-visible way to publicize the support from City Hall to local environment projects and the Local Agenda 21 process.
