Apply for the World Habitat Awards
March 21, 2007
The Building and Social Housing Foundation is currently seeking entries for the World Habitat Awards 2007 competition. Stage 1 entries must be received by 1 June 2007.
The World Habitat Awards were initiated in 1985 and seek to identify practical, innovative and sustainable solutions to current housing issues faced by both developed and developing countries that can be transferred or adapted for use elsewhere. The competition is open to all individuals and organizations, including central and local governments, NGOs, community-based groups, research organizations and the private sector.
Each year a panel of international judges assess the projects entered for the competition and select two winners. An award of US$ 20,000 (awarded as £10,000) is presented to the winners at the annual United Nations global celebration of World Habitat Day.
Last year’s World Habitat Awards were presented to the Johannesburg Housing Company (South Africa) and the Building and Construction Improvement Programme of the Aga Khan Planning and Building Service in Pakistan.
