ICLEI-Oceania partners in a Sustainable Consumption Project
July 05, 2006
ICLEI has partnered with Sustainability Victoria and the Australian Centre for Science, Innovation and Society to support councils in Victoria to identify and explore opportunities for improving resource consumption in their own operations and within their municipalities.
Called Eco-Innovative Cities, the project sets out to challenge current delivery of council operations, planning and decision-making processes with greater consideration to sustainability principles. The project aims to move councils from a focus on waste and recycling to considering how council services can be changed or re-designed to reduce resource consumption.
Participating Australian ICLEI Members are: Boroondara, Darebin, Manningham, Melbourne, and Port Phillip.
