ICLEI Vice President at World Urban Forum III
June 21, 2006
ICLEI Vice President Stephen Kabuye, Mayor of Entebbe (Uganda), chaired a networking session on the Lake Victoria Region Local Authorities Cooperation (LVRLAC) at the third World Urban Forum, taking place this week in Vancouver, Canada.
The LVRLAC is a network of 62 municipalities in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, all bordering the world’s second largest body of freshwater. At the session, officials from Entebbe, Kisumu (Kenya) and Musoma (Tanzania), as well as a representative from Lake Nakuru (Kenya) presented urban development challenges. They showcased how these challenges are being addressed through city development strategies with support from UN-HABITAT and the Swedish International Development Agenca (SIDA), as well as through networking and exchanges arranged through the LVRLAC.
