ICLEI Member Växjö part of ‘Success for Sustainable Energy Systems in Advanced Cities’
May 31, 2006
ICLEI Member Växjö (Sweden), together with Grenoble, France, and Delft, Netherlands, are participating in an EU-sponsored project to achieve ambitious carbon dioxide reduction targets through energy management. The project is called the Success for Sustainable Energy Systems in Advanced Cities (SESAC).
The project aims to develop a framework for local environmental and energy management that is based on the continual cycle of planning, implementing, monitoring, reviewing and improving processes and actions.
The first step of the project will be for the three participating cities to conduct a ‘management inventory’ of their existing environment and energy management tools and practices, and analyze their inter-relationship. These management inventories will form the foundation of their individual energy management strategies.
The reduction target for the city of Växjö is to become completely fossil free.
