Inauguration of ICLEI Global Executive Committee

The ICLEI Global Executive Committee has been confirmed by the ICLEI Council representing around 1,200 local government members. The inaugural meeting took place in Belo Horizonte, Brazil on the occasion of the ICLEI World Congress 2012.

The Global Executive Committee at its first meeting unanimously agreed to extend the term of office of the current President, Mr. David Cadman, and Vice President, Ms. Martha Delgado Peralta until the annual Global Executive Committee meeting in October 2012. The committee members agree that importance of the role of the ICLEI President and Vice President at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) held in Rio is not to be underestimated and ICLEI must maintain a seamless transition from the World Congress to the Rio negotiations to remain a relevant voice for local governments.
