Newsflash! Mayor Nxumalo from Durban elected as an ICLEI Vice President

Mayor James Nxumalo of eThekwini Municipality (Durban) was elected as one of three new ICLEI Vice Presidents, in one of a number of high level elections for executive positions in ICLEI's new global governance system.

Mayors from ICLEI Member cities together with Members from the ICLEI Global Executive Committee, World Mayors Council on Climate Change (WMCCC) and ICLEI Senior Management are currently meeting in Seoul, South Korea (18-20 October) for the opening of the ICLEI East Asia Secretariat, the World Mayors Dialogue with Civil Society event, and high level dialogues with UNFCCC negotiators ahead of UNFCCC COP18.

The proceedings in Seoul will also see the official inauguration of Mayor Park Won Soon as the Chair of the WMCCC. Please see the ICLEI Africa website for more on the outcomes of these important events in the upcoming week.
