Generally, the Isoko South Local Government Area, Delta state Nigeria is a low-lying area in the coastal belt with rivulets and channel’s thereby forming part of the extensive Niger Delta Basin. It is characterized mostly by two seasons. Namely the dry season and the raining season that is as common in the tropical climate region.

The vegetation of the area is a broad zone of deciduous and evergreen forests with scanty impenetrable mangrove forest associated with the coastal belt and a forest reserve along the Aviara clan area with various species of valuable trees.

The occupation of the people is traditionally and mainly farming and fishing. The area is one of the highest oil and gas producing area in the State though yet to receive its due price from this regard.

Among the tourist areas of the state, it has the popular Araya Bible Tourist Center, Eni of Uzere ,the sand beach of  Ivrogbo. The lsoko South Local Government Area Delta State has OIeh Town as its headquarters, with two urban communities namely Oleh and Olomoro .

It is made up of about 10 clans which are Oleh, Olomoro, lrri, Aviara, Uzere, Emede, Igbide, Enwhe/Okpolo, Umeh and Erowah clans which are part of the Isoko tribe that forms one of the major tribes In Delta state.

The Isoko South Local Government Area, Delta state was created on the 23rd of September, 1991 from then Isoko Local Government Area that was created sometime in 1963 alongside with the defunct Bendel State of  Nigeria.
