Mass issuing of land title documents in Lagos State

In a targeted effort this month, the State of Lagos has issued a thousand registered sub-lease title documents to home owners in Lagos, in a bid to reduce the large number of properties still lacking registered titles. The allottees in question had mostly purchased their properties before January 2000, from government agencies.
The number of properties without documents has been a concern of H.E. the Governor of Lagos, Babatunde Raji Fashola, since he came to office in 2007. The Governor congratulated the beneficiaries and declared that registration documents must now be geared to make properties "work" for owners, and empower house owners to put their properties to optimal use.
