Project cities
Project activities will be initiated and monitored in seven cities to begin with: Jaipur, Udaipur, Kota and Jodhpur in Rajasthan; and in Tiruchirappalli, Coimbatore and Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu.
RAJASTHAN

Jaipur
Jaipur, popularly known as the Pink City, is the capital and largest city of Rajasthan, with a population of approximately 3.1 million. Historically the capital of India’s royalty, it is now a metropolitan city and major business centre.

Udaipur
Udaipur, also known as the City of Lakes, is known for having the longest ruling dynasty in the world. The Royal House of Udaipur has had one family ruling the city from 600 AD, and descendants still retain their position.

Kota
The city of Kota, located 240 kilometres south of Jaipur, is situated on the banks of Chambal River. Kota forms the trade centre for an area in which millet, wheat, rice, pulses and various grains are grown abundantly and industries include cotton and oilseed milling, textile weaving, distilling, metal, fertilizers, chemicals and engineering equipment.

Jodhpur
Jodhpur is the second largest city in the Indian state of Rajasthan. Historically the capital of the kingdom known as Marwar. Jodhpur is now a popular tourist destination, known for its numerous palaces, forts and temples set against the landscape of the Thar desert.

TAMIL NADU

Tiruchirappalli
Tiruchirappalli, often called Tiruchi or Trichy, is a city in the state of Tamil Nadu and the administrative headquarters of Tiruchirappalli District. It holds historical significance as it was ruled by various dynasties and played a critical role in the Carnatic Wars between the British and French East India companies. The city has a number of historical monuments, such as the Rockfort and Ranganathaswamy temple at Srirangam.

Coimbatore
Coimbatore, also known as Kovai, is the second largest city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu with a metropolitan population of over 2 million. It is a major commercial centre and is often been referred to as the "Manchester of South India". The history of modern Coimbatore dates back to the 1930s, when the city grew rapidly on a textile boom. The city has been ranked at no. 17 among the top global outsourcing cities in a study by Tholons.

Tirunelveli
Tirunelveli is also called Nellai. The translation in Tamil for paddy, or rice fields, is "Nell". Both the names, Tirunelveli and Nellai, directly associate it to the fertile paddy fields that surround the city. Tirunelveli is an ancient city and is home to many temples and shrines, including the largest Shiva temple in Tamil Nadu, the Nellaiappar Temple.
