Territorial approach to Climate Change workshop and training
2012/03/13
The TACC workshop was one of a series of workshops being run by UNEP and partners. It aimed at increasing understanding and learning on climate change and some of its relevance at sub-national levels.
The aim of ICLEI Africa’s involvement in this workshop was to present a module on International Climate Change Policy Framework and facilitate the session discussions. As the workshop was on the Territorial Approach to Climate Change (TACC) we placed special emphasis on the linkages between the international policy framework and that of a subnational one.
In attendance there were representatives from UNEP, UNDP, UN-Habitat, ICLEI AS, the private sector (Eskom, Nedbank), NGOs, and representatives from national and sub-national governments from Mozambique, South Africa, Namibia, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho and Swaziland. Additionally, honourable Mayor Chileshe Bweupe from Kitwe City, Zambia, attended the workshop, which was a direct spin-off from the Durban Local Government Convention.
