The City of Joondalup wins the “World’s Most Liveable City Award of 2011”

- Councillor Geoff Amphlett, Sheree Edmondson (Strategic Policy Development Coordinator), Jamie Parry (Director Governance and Strategy) and LivCom Judge Rob Small.
The LivCom Awards is the world’s only Awards Competition focusing on International Best Practice regarding the management of the local environment with the further objective of improving the quality of life of individual citizens through the creation of ‘liveable communities’.
The City of Joondalup was a finalist in two categories: “Whole City Award” for population 150,001 to 400,000, and "Socio-Economic Project” for its Beach Management, and was announced as the winner of its respective Whole City Award category at the Awards Ceremony held in Songpa South Korea on 31 October. This required the City to meet the comprehensive award criteria that covered areas in relation to enhancement of built and natural landscapes, environmental best practices, healthy lifestyle of citizens, community involvement as well as arts and cultural heritage.
Announced after three intensive days of evaluating 77 finalist cities from 26 countries, the 2011 awards were the largest in LivCom’s 15 year history, providing an opportunity for cities to share both best practice and general management experiences.
The City is incredibly proud of its achievement and would like to thank the City of Joondalup’s community and stakeholders for contributing to the programs and services that supported the City’s successful submissions.
